BIMSTEC young Leaders’ Summit held in Guwahai

New Delhi, Sep 15: India hosted the BIMSTEC Young Leaders’ Summit in Guwahati, Assam, from September 9 to 11, 2025, highlighting the pivotal role of youth in shaping the region’s holistic development.

The summit was part of the 21-point action plan announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the 6th BIMSTEC Summit to further deepen regional cooperation.

Inaugurated by Assam Governor Laxman Prasad Acharya and organised in collaboration with the Bharat Scouts and Guides, the event brought together over 80 young leaders from all BIMSTEC member states.

Participants represented diverse sectors, including politics, business, culture, and civil society.

The three-day programme focused on 21st-century leadership, resilient, inclusive, and responsive to diversity.

Sessions on entrepreneurship, design thinking, and cross-cultural collaboration encouraged the development of sustainable and socially responsive solutions.

Cultural exchanges and country-sharing sessions further strengthened mutual understanding.

Outcomes included innovative social business prototypes, enhanced communication and collaboration skills, and lasting networks of trust.

The summit also spotlighted North East India’s role as a land bridge connecting the Bay of Bengal region’s socio-economic growth corridors.mAligned with India’s Neighborhood First, Act East, and MAHASAGAR visions, the initiative aims to equip the region’s youth to drive development, influence policymaking, and address shared challenges for future prosperity.
