SC panel seeks complaints over July violence

According to a statement issued by the Press Information Bureau (PIB) on Saturday, the portal, has been launched to facilitate submissions from those affected by the violence, including police personnel.

The committee will examine issues outlined in paragraphs 12 and 13 of the Supreme Court’s order dated August 18, 2026, and paragraph 5(i) of its order dated September 10, 2026.

Priority will be accorded to complaints concerning the use of pellet guns, targeted violence and harassment of female protesters, and allegations of excessive violence and destruction of property by either side, the statement said.

The portal has been designed to provide protection to vulnerable witnesses and allow affected persons to keep their identities confidential, if they so wish.

The HPEC has encouraged affected persons and other stakeholders to submit their complaints and representations online using the prescribed formats.

Individuals wishing to share information or suggestions relating to the issues referred to the committee may also do so through the portal.

Those seeking to submit complaints, representations or supporting material physically can approach the HPEC office at Shiksha Sadan, 17, Rouse Avenue Institutional Area, New Delhi, between 2 pm and 4 pm on working days.

Submissions can also be sent by post to the committee’s office or via email at [email protected], the PIB statement said.
