Srinagar, Oct 1: An Awareness Programme on TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan was organised by the State Tuberculosis Cell, Kashmir, in collaboration with Government College for Women, M.A. Road, Srinagar.
The Programme, as per a statement, aimed at sensitising the participants about TB, its prevention, eradication measures, and the collective role of society in achieving the vision of a TB-free India.
The program commenced with an address by Prof. (Dr.) Yasmeen Farooq, Principal, GCW MA Road, who formally welcomed the distinguished guests and participants and highlighted how India has witnessed a decline in TB cases over the years and emphasised the importance of sustained awareness. Dr. Saba Wani, Deputy Director, DHSK in her keynote address, underlined the achievements of NTEP, free services such as testing, screening, nutritional support, NPY, HH- X rays, medications for all TB Patients.
Dr Basra Mir, STO Kashmir, spoke about the initiatives taken by the Government of India to eliminate TB, with a special focus on vulnerable sections of society. She highlighted the need to prioritize the health & role of youth by becoming ambassadors and seek medical attention promptly if someone experience any symptoms of TB or other health issues.
