Srinagar, Aug 16: Following the announcement of the assembly poll schedule by the Election Commission of India, the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) has been implemented immediately.

An official statement confirmed that the Model Code of Conduct is effective right from the moment the poll schedule is announced.

“The provisions of the Model Code will be applicable across Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir, covering all candidates, political parties, and the governments of these regions,” the statement said.

It further noted that the Election Code would also apply to the Union Government concerning any announcements or policy decisions related to Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana, as reported by news agency KNO.

The Election Commission today revealed the long-awaited schedule for Jammu and Kashmir’s assembly elections, which will take place in three stages. The first phase will occur on September 18, the second on September 25, and the third on October 1, with results expected to be announced on October 4.
