Srinagar, Sep 18: National Health Mission (NHM) employees on Friday deferred their strike after the association got written assurance from Health Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Sakeena Itoo.
The breakthrough came after a meeting between the striking employees and the government, where the minister gave assurance in writing that the legitimate demands of protesting NHM employees will be examined and necessary steps will be taken.
The representatives of NHM employees while addressing media said that after getting written assurance from Health Minister Sakeena Itoo, the employees have decided to defer their strike.
They said the assurance from the health minister depicts the government is also concerned over the demands put forth by the NHM protesting employees.
The representative said the strike has been deferred for a month and it is hoped the government will take serious steps in resolving of our long pending demands.
Notably the protesting NHM employees have been demanding settlement of their long-pending issues pertaining to job security, regularization and other service matters.
The employee leaders expressed gratitude to the minister for giving a written assurance and hoped their legitimate and genuine demands will be addressed with sincerity.
