Srinagar, Dec 8: National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar on Wednesday defeated NIT Uttarakhand by 26 runs in the finals of All India Inter-NIT Faculty and Staff Cricket Tournament at Sports Cricket Ground at Visvesvarya National Institute of Technology (NIT) Nagpur. The tournament was hosted by VNIT Nagpur and 20 NITs from across India participated in the mega event. Earlier after winning the toss, NIT Uttarakhand decided to field first. ‘My Town, My Pride’ celebrations kick-off at KU

Srinagar, Dec 05: Vice-Chancellor University of Kashmir Prof Nilofer Khan on Monday announced a complete ban on entry and use of polythene in the campus as the varsity kick-started celebrations related to the UT administration’s flagship ‘My Town, My Pride’ initiative. The ban will be effective December 6, 2022. “I will inform all relevant quarters in the University that we will have a polythene-free campus immediately. Srinagar, Dec 05: Former J&K Chief Minister and Lok Sabha member Farooq Abdullah was on Monday elected unopposed as the president of National Conference, reports said. Quoting NC spokesperson, Imran Nabi Dar, news agency KNO reported that the Srinagar Parliamentarian was elected unopposed in the presidential polls held at the Nawa-e-Subh party headquarters. The polls were necessitated following Abdullah's decision to step down as the party president.

Fire damages 4 residential houses in Chattabal

Srinagar, Dec 04: At least four residential houses were damaged in a fire incident in Patlipora locality of Chattabal in Srinagar district on Sunday morning. The news agency Kashmir News Observer (KNO) reported that four residential houses were partially damaged after a fire broke out in Patlipora area this morning. They said fire tenders along with local police doused off the flames in time to avoid further damage. Meanwhile, police have taken cognizance of the incident and the cause of fire was not known immediately. There were, however, no reports of any loss of life or injury in the incident.

29 lakh cash recovered by SIA during Kashmir raids

Srinagar, Dec 03: The State Investigation Agency (SIA) on Saturday said that Rs 29 lakh cash was recovered during raids at multiple locations in Kashmir in connection with an alleged terrorism funding case. “Continuing to rein in the networks of (militant) outfits with a purpose of destroying its ecosystems completely, State Investigation Agency, Kashmir conducted searches at multiple locations across Kashmir valley,” SIA said in a statement, reported news agency GNS. Srinagar, Dec 2: Twelve assets in Jammu and Kahsmir have been identified for outsourcing, including the Pahalgam Club, Ashoka Hotel in Jammu, and the huts of the J&K Tourism Development Corporation (JKTDC) at Patnitop. Sources said that the entire exercise would be finished by the middle of next year, and more properties like these would be identified in Phase II. Srinagar, Dec 2: A Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of Srinagar Police on Friday presented a chargesheet in NIA court against 13 persons allegedly linked with the TRF. "As per details, the case FIR No 127/2022 under sections 7/25 of Arms act & sections 13 18 19 20 38 39 of UAP Act of PS Parimpora was registered on 28-05- 2022 under relevant sections of law on credible inputs about the presence of active terrorists of TRF (off-shoot of LeT) in few residential houses of Barthana, Qamarwari area,” news agency GNS quoted a police statement.
